DRIVE THROUGH COVID-19 TESTING AT CHLA

The Rodney Drive Through Clinic is:

  • Open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

  • Collection Methods: Nasopharyngeal, Oropharyngeal and Nares or Saliva

We no longer are accepting samples marked as Self-Pay on the clinical requisition. The only time “Self-Pay” is allowed is at the Outreach facilities when the patient pays at the time of service.   We have a system to do this via credit card payment onsite in the OP Lab and in the Encino Lab.  If the patient goes to either of those locations the patient must pay first and show a credit card receipt before they are registered for tests.

 

If the specimen is couriered to CHLA with a requisition that says self-pay it will discarded and the test will be canceled. The specimen will not be sent back to the office.

 

Here is the updated clinical requisition to reflect this change. Please make sure to bring the following items with you for your drive-through test. All forms can be found below:

  • Clinical Requisition Form (please fill out the highlighted fields)

  • CHLA COVID-19 Drive-Through Directions and Instructions

  • Copy of your insurance card

 

Billing: Please note that we do not accept HMO insurance for drive-through testing.

In an effort to support you amid the COVID-19 crisis, CHLA offers testing for patients of Care Network members who meet testing criteria.  Specimen collections will be at the CHLA Drive-Through Covid-19 Testing Clinic.  

Results will be faxed to your office 48 - 72 hours after the lab receives the sample. It is then the responsibility of the provider to share results with the patient and/or family and inform the local County Department of Public Health of a positive test result. 

COVID-19 TESTING FOR PHYSICIANS AND STAFF (ANYONE 21+)

CHLA offers COVID-19 lab testing services for Care Network providers, practice staff, and adult family members via the drive-through facility. To bill for these services, the CHLA Laboratory Service Center can set up a contract account for the Care Network practice. CHLA offers Care Network practices a 40% discount off the charge master price for this patient group. Patients and staff are advised to pay the office directly and the CHLA laboratory will send the office a monthly invoice. Please fill out the below form titled “CHLA Contract Setup Form for Care Network Physicians" to be set up with a contract account. Please send the form to the Laboratory Service Center via fax or email (Fax Number: 1-323-361-6157; Email: PLMLabServiceCenter@chla.usc.edu). After a contract account is created, a custom lab requisition form will be sent to the office to utilize for this group of patients. Prior to arriving at the drive-through testing clinic, please be sure to complete and bring all associated forms:

  • Custom Lab Requisition Form (will be sent to provider office by the Laboratory Service Center)

  • CHLA COVID-19 Drive-Through Directions and Instructions

Billing:

  • Insurance will not be accepted for patients over 21 years of age. Please make sure that a contract account has been set up with the referring practice by completing the “CHLA Contract Setup Form for Care Network Physicians” provided below.
