Effective June 28th, the Rodney Drive Through Clinic will be changing the hours of operation to 6:00 AM-2:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 

The Rodney Drive Through Clinic is:

  • Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday's, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, and closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

  • Open to CHLA patients, team members and team members’ children (under 5 years old)

  • Collection Methods: Nasopharyngeal, Oropharyngeal and Nares or Saliva

We no longer are accepting samples marked as Self-Pay on the clinical requisition. The only time “Self-Pay” is allowed is at the Outreach facilities when the patient pays at the time of service.   We have a system to do this via credit card payment onsite in the OP Lab and in the Encino Lab.  If the patient goes to either of those locations the patient must pay first and show a credit card receipt before they are registered for tests.


If the specimen is couriered to CHLA with a requisition that says self-pay it will discarded and the test will be canceled. The specimen will not be sent back to the office.

In an effort to support you amid the COVID-19 crisis, CHLA offers testing for patients of Care Network members who meet testing criteria.  Specimen collections will be at the CHLA Drive-Through Covid-19 Testing Clinic. 


Relevant documents for your practice and patients are linked below.  Specifically, the ordering provider will need to fill out the highlighted fields in the lab requisition form.  The patient will need to bring with them the completed form, insurance information, and the document titled “CHLA COVID-19 Drive-Through Directions and Instructions.” 


Prior to sending a patient to the drive-through testing clinic, we request you review all documents below to ensure criteria for testing is met and associated forms are complete. 

Results will be faxed to your office 24 hours after the lab receives the sample. It is then the responsibility of the provider to share results with the patient and/or family and inform the local County Department of Public Health of a positive test result. Sample scripts for notifying patients are also attached.


CHLA accepts Care Network providers and their staff for COVID-19 lab testing at the drive through facility. Prior to arriving at the drive-through testing clinic, we request you review the “Care Network Covid-19 Testing Provider Information Form” to ensure criteria for testing is met and, if so, please be sure to complete and bring all associated forms. Please note that providers must have the Clinical Requisition Form completed by a referring physician and cannot self-refer to the clinic. If you are faxing the requisition to the patient, please be sure to circle the highlighted testing as it may not show up on a fax.
